OnePlan Alternatives and OnePlan Pricing for Microsoft 365 Project Portfolio Management
OnePlan is the portfolio layer many Microsoft shops shortlist now that Project Online has retired. It keeps Planner, Teams, Azure DevOps and Power BI where they are and adds portfolio plans, resource and financial planning on top. Buyers look further when the Enterprise quote lands, when they doubt they need a full platform, or when the real gap is deciding which projects get funded.
Portfolio Hub is priced per workspace in US dollars, from $24.50 a month billed yearly or $49 monthly. The demo portfolio opens on signup, already scored, ranked and planned against capacity by role.
The best OnePlan alternative depends on how much of Project Online you still need. If your PMO mostly kept schedules, Microsoft's own Planner and Project Plan 3 or Plan 5 may be enough. If you want a Microsoft-native portfolio layer with a flat price, compare PPM Express. If the portfolio needs enterprise financials and resource management outside Microsoft, look at Planview or Broadcom Clarity. If the real problem is that too many projects get approved, a scoring model and funding line against capacity by role is the piece to buy first.
Why Microsoft shops shortlist OnePlan, and why some keep looking
OnePlan is a strategic portfolio and work management platform built around the Microsoft stack. It connects to Planner, Microsoft Project, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI and Azure DevOps, and also to Jira, so a PMO can roll work from several delivery tools into one portfolio view. The company describes itself as a repeat Microsoft PPM partner of the year, and in 2026 it launched a migration offer aimed squarely at organizations leaving Project Online, carrying over project history, custom fields and Power BI reporting.
That makes it the obvious first call for an IT PMO that wants to stay inside Microsoft 365. The reasons buyers widen the search are consistent. The capabilities most PMOs want, such as resource plans, financial plans, what-if scenarios and the portfolio modeler, sit in the Enterprise edition, which is quoted. Some teams find they only needed a better scheduler, which Microsoft now sells directly. And a portfolio platform records decisions well but does not make them: someone still has to rank the work and draw the line.
OnePlan pricing and what each tier actually includes
OnePlan publishes one price and quotes the rest. On its published pricing page, the Basic plan is $10 per user a month, billed annually, with a five user minimum. Basic covers portfolio and work plans, My Work, dashboards, timesheets, the Teams integration and its AI assistants. Enterprise is custom priced and adds the parts a PMO usually buys OnePlan for: resource plans, financial plans, the portfolio modeler with what-if scenarios, roadmaps, status reports, Microsoft Project and Planner Premium integration, Power BI report packs, workflow and the enterprise API. A separate Innovation Portal for idea intake starts at $3,000 per platform, and US government hosting is offered on any tier.
| OnePlan offer | Published price | What it is for | What to ask before you sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $10 per user a month, billed annually, 5 users minimum | Portfolio and work plans, timesheets, dashboards, Teams | Whether your portfolio reviews can run without resource and financial plans |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Resource plan, financial plan, portfolio modeler, scenarios, Power BI packs, API | The per user price at your headcount, and the year two figure in writing |
| Innovation Portal | From $3,000 per platform | Collecting and prioritizing project ideas before they become requests | Whether intake scoring is included or sold as configuration services |
| Success plans | Quoted | Advantage, Premier and Ultimate support and configuration packages | The day count, who does the Project Online migration, and what is fixed price |
Who counts as a user. Per user pricing grows with every team member who logs time or updates a task. Ask whether view-only executives and Planner-only contributors are billed.
The edition jump. Most PMOs need Enterprise features. Price Enterprise from the start instead of comparing Basic against competitors.
Microsoft licenses underneath. If the plan keeps Planner Premium, the Planner and Project plans are a second bill. Add both before you compare totals.
Where each Project Online job goes now
Most OnePlan evaluations start as a Project Online replacement. Before comparing vendors, sort what your PWA estate actually did into the layer that should carry it. The map below is how we would route a typical IT PMO.
Planner and Project plans
Schedules and Gantt Baselines and critical path Task boards in TeamsA portfolio platform
Roll-up across Planner, Project, DevOps, Jira Resource plan and timesheets Financial plan, CapEx and OpEx Power BI portfolio reportingA decision layer
One scoring model for every request Ranked portfolio and funding line Capacity gap by role and month Gate packs for the steering groupOnePlan sits in the middle column and reaches into the third with its portfolio modeler. Planner covers the first column on its own. If your PMO has a solid delivery stack and the fight is over which work to start, the third column is the cheapest one to solve first, and our project prioritization tool does exactly that. We sell one of the products in this table, so read the last row as our own view and test it on your own data. Owners are listed because portfolio software keeps consolidating and a new parent often means a new price list.
| Tool | Owner | What it is | How it is priced | Where it beats OnePlan | Where OnePlan still wins |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Planner and Project Plan 3 or Plan 5 | Microsoft | Microsoft's premium Planner plans with Project desktop | Published per user, $30 and $55 a month on annual terms | No extra vendor, and scheduling depth from Project desktop | Portfolio roll-up across tools, resource and financial plans |
| PPM Express | Independent | A portfolio layer over Microsoft and Jira tools | Flat annual plans with unlimited users, per its site | Cost that does not grow with headcount | Scenario modeling depth and Microsoft partner reach |
| Planview | Private, backed by TPG and TA Associates | Enterprise portfolio platforms with resource and financial planning | Quoted, usually with services | Scale, resource management depth and enterprise references | A Microsoft-native feel and a faster rollout for Office 365 shops |
| Broadcom Clarity | Broadcom | Enterprise PPM with IT financial management | Quoted | Cost allocation, chargeback and very large IT portfolios | Ease of adoption and the Teams and Planner experience |
| ServiceNow SPM | ServiceNow | Strategic portfolio management on the Now Platform | Quoted, sold with the platform | One system with IT service management and demand | Independence from a platform contract you may not have |
| Celoxis | Independent | All-in-one project and portfolio management | Published per user tiers in US dollars | Prices you can budget before a sales call | Microsoft integration and portfolio modeling |
| Meisterplan | itdesign GmbH, independent | Portfolio and capacity planning built around scenarios | Per schedulable resource, quoted | Capacity scenarios a steering group can read | Work management and timesheets in the same tool |
| Portfolio Hub | Independent | A focused portfolio workspace: scoring, ranking, funding line, capacity plan by role, gate packs | Per workspace, from $24.50 a month billed yearly | Deciding which projects to fund, at a price you can see today | Timesheets, work roll-up and live sync from Planner or DevOps |

When OnePlan is the right call
OnePlan fits some organizations very well. If these describe you, shortlisting it first is sensible.
Microsoft 365 is a hard requirement
If identity, Teams, SharePoint and Power BI are non-negotiable, a platform designed around them saves months of integration work.
Your Project Online estate was deep
Custom fields, enterprise project types and years of history are exactly what a vendor-run migration is worth paying for.
Work lives in several tools
When some teams run Planner, some Azure DevOps and some Jira, a roll-up across all three is the main job, and OnePlan does it.
You need financial plans by project
CapEx and OpEx planning, forecasts and actuals at portfolio level are Enterprise features PMOs genuinely use.
Pick the alternative by the sentence that describes your problem
Evaluations drift when everyone agrees Project Online is gone but not on what it was doing. Find the sentence closest to yours and start there.
| If you would say this | Start with | Because |
|---|---|---|
| We mostly used Project Online for schedules | Planner and Project Plan 3 | Microsoft now sells that job directly, with no second vendor |
| We want a Microsoft portfolio layer but per user pricing worries finance | PPM Express | A flat price is easier to defend as the team grows |
| Resources and financials must sit in one enterprise suite | Planview or Broadcom Clarity | That depth is what their quotes buy |
| IT demand already runs through ServiceNow | ServiceNow SPM | Demand, projects and services share one record |
| Everything gets approved and the people are booked at 130 percent | A portfolio workspace with a scoring model and a funding line | The missing artifact is an agreed ranking against capacity by role |
Five checks to run in any OnePlan trial or competitor demo
Load twenty real projects from the Project Online export and your real role list, and run these checks with the people who will use the result.
| Check | What to do | What a pass looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Year two cost | Price the users and editions you expect in twelve months, plus Microsoft licenses underneath | One total finance accepts, with every license type named |
| Migration fidelity | Import projects with custom fields, baselines and actuals | Fields arrive mapped, and history is still queryable in Power BI |
| Roll-up across tools | Connect one Planner plan and one DevOps or Jira project | Both appear in one portfolio view without manual copying |
| The cut decision | Set the budget below total demand | The portfolio splits into funded and not funded, with a reason for each |
| Your data comes out | Export the register, scores and capacity plan | Excel or CSV on demand, without a reporting project |
If the steering group still argues over which projects to start, settle the method before the tool. Our guide to project prioritization frameworks compares the scoring approaches PMOs actually use.
Questions people ask when comparing OnePlan alternatives
What is OnePlan used for?
OnePlan is strategic portfolio and work management software built around Microsoft 365. PMOs use it to roll projects from Planner, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps and Jira into one portfolio, plan resources and finances, model what-if scenarios and report through Power BI. Since Project Online retired, it is often bought as the portfolio layer that replaces Project Web App.
How much does OnePlan cost?
OnePlan lists its Basic plan at $10 per user a month, billed annually, with a five user minimum. Enterprise, which carries resource plans, financial plans and the portfolio modeler, is custom priced. The Innovation Portal for idea intake starts at $3,000 per platform, and success plans for configuration are quoted separately.
What are the best OnePlan alternatives?
For scheduling inside Microsoft, Planner and Project Plan 3 or Plan 5. For a Microsoft-native portfolio layer with flat pricing, PPM Express. For enterprise resource and financial depth, Planview or Broadcom Clarity. For IT demand on the Now Platform, ServiceNow SPM. For ranking and funding projects against capacity by role at a published price, a portfolio decision workspace.
Is OnePlan a replacement for Project Online?
OnePlan is one of the most common Project Online replacements for organizations that want to stay in Microsoft 365. It offers a migration that carries over projects, custom fields and Power BI reporting, and it works with Planner premium plans for scheduling. Whether you need it depends on whether PWA ran your resource pool, timesheets and portfolio selection or only schedules.
Does OnePlan work with Jira and Azure DevOps?
Yes. OnePlan lists integrations with Azure DevOps and Jira alongside Planner, Microsoft Project, Teams, SharePoint and Power BI. In a trial, connect one real project from each tool and confirm which fields sync, in which direction, and how often, because portfolio roll-ups are only as current as the slowest connector.
Is Microsoft Planner premium enough for portfolio management?
Planner premium plans handle schedules, dependencies, baselines and grouping projects into portfolios. They are lighter on what a PMO uses to govern a portfolio: an enterprise resource pool, financial planning, intake scoring and portfolio selection against a budget. If your PMO needs those, add a portfolio layer such as OnePlan or a decision workspace on top.
